SIGMA's redesigned from the ground up medium telephoto lens for mirrorless systems - the compact 90mm F2.8 I-Series Lens is versatile, and its impressive optical performance recommends it for portraits, close-ups, and photography at weddings and other events.

A brand new 90mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary premium lens expands SIGMA's growing I-Series product line. It joins the four existing I-Series fixed focal length lenses, as well as the new 24mm F2. This new medium tele delivers superior optical performance, offers a fast F2.8 aperture, features all-metal construction and is equipped with an aperture ring. It was designed from the ground up for mirrorless systems and is perfectly balanced for handling when paired with modern full-frame cameras. Its high resolving power meets all the demands of the latest ultra-high megapixel camera models.

Its versatile telephoto focal length is the longest among I-series lenses to date. But it remains remarkably lightweight and compact, making it absolutely suitable for everyday use. The Lens is optimized in every respect for use in mirrorless systems, focuses quickly and reliably with autofocus, and shines with its optical performance. Its pleasing bokeh makes it an ideal portrait lens, and its close focus distance of 50 cm allows photographers to get closer to their subject.

The 90 mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary is a powerful, compact and robust lens for every day use, whose interplay of high detail sharpness and contrasting background blur creates vivid and lively images.

1.
I-Series|Compact
fixed focal lengths in premium quality for mirrorless systems
The SIGMA I-Series consists of full-frame lenses that give users of mirrorless systems new, better alternatives - both in photographic practice and in terms of the impressive image results that can be achieved with them.

A key advantage of mirrorless cameras is their slimmer dimensions, and the new 90mm Lens is designed to complement these compact cameras without compromising optical performance. Such a combination of outstanding optical quality with a compactness that was not possible in SLR systems points the way to the future of photography.

SIGMA recognizes that people have a wider range of photographic options at their disposal these days, especially since smartphones with camera functions have become ubiquitous. But for many photographers who have more in mind than just taking some picture when deciding to buy a camera and lens, the I-Series lenses offer the ultimate combination of optical performance, convenient handling and great compactness.

Since its founding in 1961, SIGMA has continued to perfect its performance in lens development and production, taking it to an even higher level in 2012 with the introduction of the Global Vision brand. From this base, SIGMA is constantly thinking about the quality of its products, the feeling of shooting with them, and the pleasure of owning them. This is also how the I-Series was born.

2.
New Optical Performance Standards in the Contemporary Product Line
The SIGMA 90 mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary boasts outstanding optical imaging performance and exhibits a resolving power that matches today's high-megapixel mirrorless cameras.

The optical design utilizes the most advanced technologies, so the Lens features five SLD lenses, among others. This reduces longitudinal chromatic aberration, which cannot be corrected in-camera after the fact, achieving high resolution and clear detail without color fringing. At the same time, an asphere that has been blank pressed with great precision ensures high contrast transfer of the finest details in the focus area and a beautiful bokeh without colored artifacts in the background - a bokeh that only a full-frame lens can produce.

The Lens is also calculated with in-camera correction in mind. This strategy has allowed SIGMA's lens developers to focus on correcting aberrations that can only be corrected optically, improving overall imaging performance while reducing the dimensions and weight of the Lens.

With a close-up focusing distance of 50 cm and a maximum magnification of 1:5, close-up photography is also possible. The Lens exposes subjects at close range, allowing the photographer to emphasize fine details but also to create more abstract compositions.

Autofocus is driven by a fast as well as quiet stepper motor, making focusing as good for stills as it is for video.

3.
The outstanding I-Series manufacturing quality in a compact form
All I-Series lenses are all-metal constructions. The precision machined aluminum components not only give the barrel a sleek, elegant finish, but also ensure excellent durability, enhancing the quality of the entire product. The use of metal materials inside the body as well, ensures smooth operation of the focus and iris ring and added robustness. These high-precision components, manufactured with SIGMA's innovative metalworking technology, are also used in SIGMA's cine lenses for professional filmmakers. This attention to feel and ergonomics makes the lens a pleasure to work with.
