  • Wide-angle Lens
  • first-class performance
  • designed for all shooting conditions
  • HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor)
  • High-speed autofocus
  • suitable for travel, nature / landscape, available light, architecture / interiors, events

The long-awaited wide-angle lens for fixed focal length enthusiasts is now available in the Art product line from SIGMA.

The classic angle of view in a new guise
The 28mm angle of view was widely used in the era of analog cameras and still has many fans today. To meet the wishes of many photographers who have expressed a strong interest in using the familiar 28mm angle of view in the quality of the Art product line, SIGMA has developed the SIGMA 28mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art. In doing so, SIGMA was able to draw on its experience from the development of the previous Art F1.4 fixed focal length lens product line. This new classic wide-angle lens, which benefits from the latest design, materials and processing technologies, is now part of SIGMA's Art product line.

1. First-class performance
The Lens is equipped with two FLD ("F" Low Dispersion) glass elements and three SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements. These three efficiently arranged aspherical lenses, including a large-diameter aspherical lens, ensure thorough correction of chromatic aberration, which is particularly common in wide-angle Lens. This enables high resolution across the entire sensor, while sagittal coma is fully corrected and distortion is reduced just as effectively. Exceptional performance is achieved in street photography as well as when shooting landscapes and night skies.

2. Designed for all shooting conditions
The water and oil-repellent coating of the front lens, together with the dust and splash-proof construction, ensures exceptional performance even in extremely challenging shooting conditions. Thanks to the HSM (Hyper-Sonic Motor), also with an updated algorithm, the high-speed autofocus captures any subject movement without delay.

3. Further features
The almost circular aperture consists of 9 diaphragm blades and ensures a very pleasant bokeh outside the focal plane of the image. The Super Multi-Layer Coating (SML) prevents reflections and ghost images and thus ensures sharp and high-contrast images.

The Lens is equipped with a solid and precise brass bayonet. The special treatment of the surface to increase strength enables long-term use. The front and rear lenses have a water and oil repellent coating, water can be easily wiped away and oil and grease do not adhere to the surface.

Lens features:
DG
DG lenses - SIGMA's DG lenses are designed for demanding use on digital cameras with sensors up to 24x36mm format (colloquially known as full-frame format). The use of state-of-the-art coating processes successfully eliminates ghost images caused by reflections on the sensor surface while achieving a balanced color balance and outstanding optical performance.
As these lenses also illuminate the 24x36mm analog film format, they can also be used on some suitable analog cameras, although we would ask you to check this with us in individual cases.

HSM
HSM ultrasonic motor (Hyper Sonic Motor) - HSM lenses use a motor that is driven by ultrasonic waves. This technology offers you a very fast, precise and almost silent way of automatic focusing. Two different types of HSM ultrasonic drive are used in our lenses. One is the HSM ring motor, which is mainly used in the high-quality EX Lens. This HSM drive allows you to manually intervene in AF mode at any time. On the other hand, an HSM micromotor is primarily used in compact Lens, the so-called all-round zoom lenses. Manual intervention in AF mode is not possible here.

IF
Internal focusing (IF) - With internally focused lenses, only one or more lens groups are moved inside the lens for the purpose of focusing. As with rear-focus Lens, this has many advantages: Internal focusing ensures faster and quieter focusing. With IF lenses, the overall length of the lens remains constant during focusing and the front element does not rotate, which allows you to conveniently use polarizing filters and a tulip-shaped lens hood. As the overall length of the Lens remains constant during focusing, there is no noticeable weight shift when focusing with this system. As a result, the Lens is well balanced at all times.

ASP.
ASP - Normally, light rays close to the edges are refracted more strongly towards the center when passing through a lens than light rays close to the axis. Therefore, images taken with an uncorrected system may be blurred towards the edge. The aspherical correction of an optical system now eliminates numerous imaging errors at once. Sharpness is achieved across the entire field of view, distortion is reduced to a minimum and the lens can be made smaller and lighter due to our advanced correction methods. Almost all of our Lens are equipped with at least one aspherical lens element.
