First professional palm-sized camcorder for 4K HDR
The PXW-Z90 is the first professional palm-sized camcorder to offer stunning 4K High Dynamic Range (HDR) content with file-based Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) workflows. S-Log3 is also supported, allowing you to create beautiful images with a wide color gamut and color palette.
* 3840 x 2160 pixels. To view 4K QFHD video, connect this unit to a Sony HDR (HLG)-compatible TV via an HDMI cable and switch to HDR (HLG) mode.

Super slow motion at up to 960fps* and slow motion and fast motion at up to 120fps**
When shooting at high frame rates, everyday actions become a slow-motion ballet. Here, the PXW-Z90 achieves 120 fps in Full HD XAVC with 10-bit 4:2:2, i.e. continuous fivefold slow motion. Higher frame rates of up to 960 fps are also possible with slow motion and time-lapse cache recording. This means even more creative flexibility for you.
* 960 fps (NTSC). 1000 fps (PAL)
** 120 fps (NTSC)/100 fps (PAL).

Versatile connections for broadcast workflows
The camcorder features standard 3G-SDI output (supports 1080 60p/50p), a Multi Interface (MI) accessory shoe, and HDMI and remote interfaces that can be used to remotely control various Sony accessories. For example, when using the Live Producer MCX-500 for multiple cameras and the Remote Control RM-30BP, a simple live solution can be created.

Revolutionary Image Performance with Exmor RS
A multi-layer CMOS image sensor (1.0-inch type) with 14.2 megapixels (effective) enables wonderful blur effects in the background (bokeh) and ensures optimal light sensitivity even in particularly dark or bright lighting conditions for capturing high-quality images without noise, which such a compact camcorder could not deliver before. This sensor has up to 273 AF points for phase detection, covering approximately 84% of the image area and ensuring precise subject capture throughout the shot. Since more light falls on the sensor, there is less noise and blur, so the image remains clear and steady even in a dark scene. Minimum illumination is 1.7 lux.*
* Low Lux mode

Enhanced Fast Hybrid AF for Action Shooting
Enhanced Fast Hybrid AF consists of a number of functions: Phase detection with up to 273 reference points covering approximately 84% of the image area, face detection, and autofocus to calculate subject movement. All features work seamlessly together to help you capture a fast-moving subject with ideal sharpness.

Instant HDR workflows
Capture, edit, and view HDR content in HLG - without additional color correction. As demand for HDR content grows, the added value is also attracting more interest from online video platforms and producers of image or event content. They need to be able to deliver content quickly without compromising expressiveness and quality. Therefore, in addition to S-Log3, the PXW-Z90 has Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) recording capability for simple file-based workflows that simultaneously deliver the image quality of HDR. This simple workflow allows HDR content to be recorded, edited, and displayed in HLG without spending a lot of time on post-processing and additional color correction.

Stunning Slow Motion Effects in Full HD
When shooting at high frame rates, everyday actions become a slow-motion ballet. Here, the PXW-Z90 achieves up to 120 fps* in Full HD, up to five times slow motion. No compromises need to be made in terms of bit depth, and there is no "windowing" effect of the sensor. So there is no cropping factor or loss in angle of view to consider. Higher frame rates of 240, 480 and 960 fps are also possible at certain resolutions.
* 120 fps (NTSC)/ 100 fps (PAL)

Broadcast quality in 4K (QFHD) and HD
The PXW-Z90 allows you to record a wide range of 4K (QFHD) and HD formats. So this amazing, palm-sized camcorder gives you maximum flexibility. The PXW-Z90 supports XAVC QFHD recording at 100 Mbps with 30p/25p/24p, XAVC HD Long GOP 422 at 50 Mbps, MPEG HD 422 at 50 Mbps*, MPEG HD 420 at 35 Mbps, and AVCHD.
* MPEG HD recording requires upgrade license (CBKZ-SLMP) sold separately.

Wide-Angle Zoom Lens with Comprehensive Control
The PXW-Z90 is equipped with a ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T-Fix Lens with a 29mm wide-angle view, ideal for shooting panoramas. The 12x optical zoom can be increased to 18x zoom power with Clear Image Zoom. Thanks to Super Resolution technology, this retains QFHD resolution or 24x zoom in HD. The Digital Extender can double this range to 48x zoom power. The camcorder's lens ring allows smooth, natural adjustment of focus and zoom. The manual dial and buttons on the side of the body allow quick and easy adjustment of aperture, ISO/GAIN values, and shutter speed.

Outstanding Surveillance Quality with Improved OLED Viewfinder
The PXW-Z90 gives you outstanding surveillance capabilities with an improved 0.39" OLED viewfinder with 2359K pixels and a 3.5-inch LCD display with 1550K pixels. This ultra-high resolution OLED viewfinder provides excellent brightness, contrast, and response time to enable better manual focus accuracy and elimination of all color refraction effects. The LCD display provides additional flexible options.

Two XLR inputs
The PXW-Z90 features two XLR connectors. Even if you disconnect the handle with its easily accessible standard XLR connector, a second one is still available on the body. This makes it ideal for recording in tight spaces, such as inside a car, or for mounting on a gimbal.
