Smooth and reliable autofocus
The design of the autofocus system requires extremely precise shifting of certain lens groups. Depending on the lens (group) weights to be moved, different motor types can be used. The focusing system of the Touit lenses from ZEISS is designed in such a way that no restrictions had to be placed on the optical design, while still guaranteeing a robust and smooth autofocus mechanism.

Innovative product design
Innovative product design for best usability and highest aesthetic demands. Among several thousand submitted products, ZEISS Lens are among the winners of established design awards. The unmistakable new product design is based on an integrative concept and is reduced to essential, functional elements. Even the lens hood, otherwise an accessory, is seamlessly integrated into the overall shape. The metal frame guarantees a high level of stability, while rubberized adjustment rings enable targeted manual intervention. Flush, satin-finished surfaces visualize the optical and mechanical precision of the lenses.

Asphericaldesign
The aspherical lens design ensures consistent imaging performance over the entire focal range as well as sharpness at the periphery of the image. The more complex surface profile of the asphere can reduce or even prevent spherical aberration and reduce further optical aberrations compared to a simple lens.

Floating Elements Design
Modern camera technologies and high-resolution digital image sensors demand ever greater performance from lenses. The modern Floating Elements Design compensates for imaging errors of ZEISS Lens at different distance settings. This is achieved by changing the axial distance between individual lenses or lens groups. The adjustment of the lens distance is linked to the distance setting so that the correct correction is always achieved. The mechanical structure of these lenses is very complex and the processing must be particularly precise - both of which are ZEISS' specialties.

ZEISS T anti-reflective coating
All lens surfaces of ZEISS lenses are equipped with the T*® anti-reflective coating and an optical design that produces brilliant images even in unfavorable lighting conditions. To anti-reflect the lens surfaces, we apply very thin transparent layers to their surfaces. For this purpose, special substances are vaporized one by one in a high vacuum with very high energy, which are then deposited on the glass surface as layers with precisely controlled thicknesses and produce the desired reflection reduction. The first coatings were used by ZEISS as early as the 1930s.

Note:
For full compatibility with Sony NEX cameras (autofocus in video mode), we recommend using the latest Sony NEX firmware.
